In 1982, an interdenominational group of seven Centretown churches in Ottawa
established Daybreak to provide safe, affordable, minimum-support housing.
Today, Daybreak operates homes for both men and women. All the houses fit in
well with their surrounding neighbourhoods, and the homes are very much a part
of the local community. Daybreak residents have their own private, furnished
rooms, and live in a community environment, sharing common areas.
Our supportive housing model has proven successful. In fact, hundreds of our
residents have moved on to permanent homes and new lives.
