About Our Homes
Rent is geared to income. Residents of each house must contribute to a
communal house fund, which covers food, household supplies and utilities, but
each resident cooks for him or herself.
All homes are drug and alcohol free. Residents are expected to keep their
rooms and common areas clean, attend regular house meetings, prepare
nutritious meals for themselves, engage in activities outside the home, manage
their personal medications and establish appropriate clinical community
support for themselves. In short, Daybreak residents are expected to work
towards independence and engage in healthy, constructive behaviours that
enhance their well-being.
Although there is no on-site staff supervision, Daybreak staff members assist
residents in the operation of their homes, visit twice a week, and welcome
residents to call during office hours. They also offer 24/7 crisis
intervention support.
